Global Development Group is an Australian NGO approved by the Minister for Foreign Affairs to carry  out quality humanitarian projects with approved partners and provide aid to relieve poverty and ensure  long term solutions.

Amani is also financially supported by the Amani for Africa Foundation that is a registered non-government organisation (NGO) in the United States and also works closely with Hearts for Africa Foundation in Australia.

Governance

The People behind the Purpose

Hearts for Africa Foundation is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors.

The board comprises five members, each with unique skills and experience,

united for the purpose of supporting the peoples of Tanzania.

Legal Structure

(a) The Hearts for Africa (Amani) Foundation (ABN 53 929 177 237) (Foundation) is a registered charity in Queensland (CH1533) and is exempt from income tax. Its sole purpose is to raise funds for, and otherwise support, the Amani Development Organisation (ADO) in Tanzania.

(b) The Hearts for Africa (Amani) Fund (ABN 32 500 596 962) (Fund) is a Deductible Gift Recipient. All donations it receives are banked to the Fund and all money from the Fund is remitted to the Global Development Group (see below) for transfer to ADO for the relief of poverty. Tax deductible receipts for gifts over $2 are issued by Hearts for Africa.  

(c) The Hearts for Africa (Amani) Foundation Limited (ABN 41 160 633 4100) is the Trustee of both the Foundation and the Fund.

(d) ADO is a community-related registered NGO in Tanzania that carries out poverty relief work. Its founder is Reverend John Naumann who is also a Director of the Hearts for Africa (Amani) Foundation Limited.

(e) Both the Foundation and the Fund are recognised charities registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).

 

Our Financial Accountability

The Hearts for Africa (Amani) Foundation and Fund accounts are independently audited annually in accordance with the Queensland Office of Fair Trading and ACNC requirements. Income and expenditure of Amani Development Organisation (ADO) is audited yearly in Tanzania.  

Hearts for Africa (Amani) and ADO partner with Global Development Group (GDG) for project J783. GDG is approved by the Minister for Foreign Affairs. Global Development Group takes responsibility of the project according to OAGDS guidelines providing a governance role and assisting in the areas of planning, monitoring and evaluating to ensure the projects are carried out to OAGDS requirements.

Tax deductible donations are transmitted to ADO via GDG for use in project J783 or to alleviate emergency issues. All expenditures are met by the Foundation account, which obtains its income through the thrift shop or special events.

As well as investing in specific new developments, Hearts for Africa makes monthly contributions towards the operation of the Prince of Peace School.
